When parkrun revamped their most events table, they added a new column showing the number of inaugural events runners have attended. To my delight and amazement, I headed up the list. I suspect that I won’t do for long, but I’m enjoying it while it lasts.
I didn’t set out to attend lots of inaugural events. My goal was simply to do as many different events in a row as I could. I’m not a fast runner (sub 30 still comes as a shock) and as I only found out about parkrun in January 2011, there will always be runners with far more parkrun pedigree than me. But visiting different parkruns doesn’t require experience or speed. And as I found over the last year, even if you never visit the same parkrun twice, the parkrun community will still find you.
The parkrunfans blog allows parkrunners from the UK and around the world to share their views and experiences with the rest of the parkrun community. Everyone has their own parkrun experiences and stories and this is the place to share yours. If you would like to contribute, please take a look at the Contributors page.
Congrats on currently holding the record! Are you going to spread out to non-UK inaugs??
ReplyDeleteI did venture to Iceland for the first parkrun there, but Australia is a little far, even for me!
