85 runners turned out to the inaugural Sheringham parkrun in beautiful North Norfolk yesterday. It's a tough off-road course with plenty of dips and climbs, gates, slippery tree roots, lumps and bumps.....and MUD! But wow, what a place!
The first course record was set by John BATTRICK of University of Wales Aberystwyth Harriers with a time of 17:39. 10-year old Jake ARMSTRONG came 14th overall with a fantastic time of 21:11!
Whilst negotiating the parkrun route you can enjoy typical National Trust beauty. At Sheringham Park (designed by renowned landscaper architect Humphry Repton in 1812) you can see iconic views, paths bursting with rhododendrons and azaleas, open parkland, a stately home, sea views, a classic working rail station and steam train...and even the obligatory water feature. The park has just celebrated its 200th birthday! Come and visit us for a parkrun soon!
